| Computer Adoption Program |
The Computer Adoption Program was created to help increase the number of computers in operation and provide technical support for sponsor donated computers placed by "Computer Adoption Program" in various elementary and intermediate schools throughout Southern California school districts who wish to participate in our program.
This could not be possible without our first Sponsor "Northrop Grumman" who has already pledged twenty (20) computers to our "Computer Adoption Program". We will be receiving our first computers in October and will be delivered to the first two elementary schools that have agreed to participate. We are delighted to have Northrop Grumman, as our first Sponsor, again we do not know how to thank you for being part of this great program.
Our first recipient of ten (10) computers from our "Computer Adoption Program" will be Los Angeles Unified School District, Caroldale Learning Community intermediate school in Carson. Joy Ferguson, Principal at Caroldale was very receptive of our program but concerned that maybe our program would not have technical support for the maintenance of the computers. I assured her that our concept would be to also have a place where high school student volunteers would assist and have a place to learn about repairing, maintaining and installing programs in our computers, as our concept expands to greater horizons.
We will be looking for other sponsors that may help our programs grow. So please join us in this heart warming endeavor in helping our young children gain useful experience through computers. Send the officers of our Chapter an e-mail if you would be interested in donating computers, printers, copiers, etc, to our program. Our Chapter is also accepting cash to assist in purchasing programs, cables and components to repair our computers. Please feel free to also contact Fabian Rivera, fabianrivera@comcast.com or telephone him at 310/618-1344 if you would like to join us or be a donor to our program.
We are hoping that our company donations make a significant impact into the education of our younger students, which will eventually help them gain expanded knowlege through computers and will someday become our future engineers and scientists of the future.
Our second school, who has already requested assistance with computers is 232nd Place Elementary School, Rosalyn S. Leach, Principal, will also be the recipient of ten (10) computers. They are also part of the Los Angeles Unified School District.
